One of the biggest complaints I hear about AI-generated content is:
“It just doesn’t sound like me.”
The good news? That’s completely fixable. The quality of AI isn’t determined by the tool you’re using; it’s determined by the instructions and context you provide.
Without that context, AI will produce generic, cookie-cutter content. But when you take the time to teach it, your communication style, personality, and audience, it becomes a much more powerful marketing assistant.
Why Your Brand Voice Matters
Your personal brand is more than your logo, your brokerage, or your headshot. It’s how people experience you.
The words you choose, the way you explain things, your sense of humour, your professionalism, and the way you guide clients through important decisions all contribute to your brand.
If your AI-generated content doesn’t reflect those qualities, you’re missing one of AI’s biggest advantages.
The Foundation of Better AI Content
Before asking AI to write social posts, listing descriptions, newsletters, or emails, you should spend some time helping it understand:
- Who you are
- Who you serve
- How you communicate
- What your clients appreciate about working with you
- The tone and style that make your marketing uniquely yours
From there, you can continue refining its understanding by sharing examples of your own writing and giving it clear guidelines to follow every time it creates content. The result is content that feels far more authentic and requires much less editing.
Why This Makes Such a Difference
Once AI understands your voice, you’ll typically find that you can:
- Create content much faster
- Spend less time rewriting AI-generated drafts
- Maintain a consistent brand across every platform
- Build stronger trust with your audience through authentic communication
Instead of replacing your voice, AI starts amplifying it.
Keep Refining Over Time
Your business evolves, and your marketing should evolve with it. As your experience grows and your messaging changes, it’s worth revisiting your AI instructions from time to time. Small updates can make a noticeable difference in the quality and consistency of the content you generate.
Want the Prompts? The framework I use includes a series of prompts designed to help AI learn your personal brand voice and consistently write content that sounds like you.
I haven’t included the prompts in this post, but if you’d like a copy, there are two easy ways to get them:
- Subscribe to my Practical AI newsletter, where we regularly share practical prompts, workflows, and AI tips for REALTORS®.
- Or simply reach out, and I’d be happy to send you the Brand Voice Prompt Pack.
The better AI understands you, the better your marketing will become.
