What I discovered was both fascinating and a little concerning…
In some cases, AI was recommending agents I had never heard of. In other cases, very successful agents with years of experience weren’t being mentioned at all.
If someone asked AI about you, would it know enough to recommend you?
The good news is that AI isn’t looking for the flashiest marketing, the biggest billboard, or the REALTOR® with the most social media followers. It’s looking for evidence…
Evidence that you’re active.
Evidence that you’re knowledgeable.
Evidence that clients trust you.
And most importantly, evidence that it can actually find and understand.
The agents who will thrive in this next phase of technology are not necessarily the biggest producers or the ones spending the most money on advertising. They will be the agents who make it easy for both consumers and AI to understand who they are, where they work, and why clients choose them.
Let’s look at what AI is actually evaluating and some simple things you can do this month to improve your chances of being recognized. AI doesn’t know who the best agent is.
It doesn’t have access to secret MLS statistics or a list of top performers hidden somewhere on the internet.
Instead, AI looks for publicly available signals that indicate expertise, trustworthiness, and client satisfaction. In many ways, AI evaluates REALTORS® much like a prospective client would.
When someone asks: “Who is the best REALTOR® in Windsor?” AI systems like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity generally look at several factors:
- REVIEWS & REPUTATION… This is often the single biggest factor. AI can see: Google Reviews, Rank My Agent reviews, Client testimonials, Review quality and consistency. If one agent has 250 reviews and another has 5, AI has significantly more information to work with.
- LOCAL EXPERTISE… AI wants evidence that you actually work in the area being searched. Do you specialize in Kingsville? Do you regularly sell in Leamington? Do you create content about Windsor neighbourhoods? The more evidence AI can find, the more likely it is to recognize you as a local expert.
- ONLINE PRESENCE… Your website matters. Your Google Business Profile matters. Your social media activity matters. Your blog content matters. The more quality information available about you, the easier it is for AI to understand your business.
- CLIENT EXPERIENCE… AI can analyze the actual words clients use in reviews. If clients repeatedly mention: * Excellent communication * Professionalism * Strong negotiation * Market knowledge * Responsiveness *. Those become trust signals.
- THE RANK MY AGENT OPPORTUNITY… One of the easiest things many agents can do right now is create and maintain a profile on Rank My Agent.
…Why?
Because it gives AI another trusted source that validates your expertise and client experience. Many agents spend thousands of dollars on marketing but never take the time to complete a profile that can help establish credibility online.
!! AT A MINIMUM:
✓ Create your profile
✓ Add a professional photo
✓ Complete your biography
✓ Request reviews from past clients
✓ Keep your information updated
Think of Rank My Agent as another digital reference that helps tell your story.
Five Quick Wins This Month
- Ask For More Reviews: Reviews remain one of the strongest trust signals online.
- Create or Update Your Rank My Agent Profile: Don’t leave it incomplete.
- Update Your REALTOR® Biography: Many bios are years out of date and tell AI very little about who you serve.
- Publish One Local Market Post: Share something useful about your community, market conditions, or neighbourhoods you work in.
- Complete Your Google Business Profile: Add photos, services, business hours, and a detailed description.
If AI can clearly understand your expertise and see evidence that clients trust you, your chances of being recommended increase dramatically.
This month, take 30 minutes to review your online presence through the eyes of AI and try implementing a couple of these tips.
